Can I be reimbursed costs due to court appearance?

What is the name of your state? New Mexico. I am the defendent in a small claims filing in New Hampshire. I understand that to contest this complaint I must appear. If I successfully defend myself can I ask the plaintiff to be required to reimburse me for my plane fare and missed wages due to the court appearance?

Of course you can ask to be reimbursed. Whether or not they are allowed is a question for the judge to answer.

HOWEVER, you won't even get that far unless you countersue for costs.
