What is the name of your state? Indiana
We were sued for a old doctors bill. We had a court date to follow up. We totally forgot about the date. So, we did not go. We got summons again for the follow up and why we should not be punished for contempt of court for failure to appear. We go tomorrow. We have never been in trouble before. Never been sued or arrested or anything. What will happen to us? Will we have to go to jail? Thank you for answering!

Are they trying to get a judgement against you? Typically if you don't show up they win by default. Is there more to what the suit is about that you would be required to show up?
