What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas
I filed in small claims court against my ex-fiancee over a Home Depot account I set up for that she agreed to pay me back for, as well as an unreturned engagement ring.
She responded by denying all and issuing a counterclaim that I owe HER back money for rent, utilities, etc.
My question is, isn't this counterclaim irrelevant to my case? I don't know how small claims courts work; are they broad enough to encompass any "money owed" situation or does the counterclaim have to be relevant to what I am filing for?(Home Depot loan + engagement ring)
Thanks
