What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New Jersey
I live in NJ and made a loan to a friend (and I use that term loosely now) who lives in Florida. She paid back all but $1000.00 and just quit paying. She now ignores phone calls and letters. Do I first go to small claims in NJ? Then Florida? They (her and her husband) are both retired and have a federal pension and they do own a house in Florida. Will I be able to get a judgement or lein against their house, in case they refinance or try to sell so MAYBE I"ll get my money SOMEDAY.
