My boyfriend was sued in small claims court and the judge ruled against him, my question is how long does the plaintiff have to contact my boyfriend to collect payment? And if he doesnt contact him does the case get thrown out?

10 years and the judgment can be renewed for another 10.

No. There is no requirement to contact a judgment debtor.
