My wife had a tooth extracted by a dentist (periodontist) that was referred by our family dentist.

The dentist left pieces of the root of the tooth and even after subsequent complaints of pain and visits the Dentist did not take a x ray to determine the cause of the discomfort.

Our family dentist took an X ray and discovered the problem.

We sought treatment from an oral surgeon to complete the extraction.

I want the first dentist to repay what he charged us as well as what we paid to have the work completed elsewhere.

How can I go about doing this - I have already sent a certified letter requesting for a response in 10 business days which he has ignored.
