What is the name of your state? maine Ihave a question about small claims court. Ihave a disclosure hearing pending on june 20th 2006 . should i call attorney handling creditors case and state that i am unable to pay. i receive public assistance and live in subsidized housing with two children. would this help avoid a court apperance. thanks for help.

My response:

You have a "Debtor's Hearing" scheduled. At this point, nothing is going to stop the hearing and your appearance. If you have something to say, like the above, the attorney will want it "on the record" and "under oath." So, don't lie. They will find out.
