My boyfriend, who was living with me, bought me new hardwood floors for my house. Value is $11,000. We just split up and he wants me to pay him for the floors. Am I obligated to pay him for the floors?

That is a substantial amount of money as a gift , plus you benefited as it was an improvement to your home .

What benefit did he get out of the improvement ? NONE .
