What is the name of your state? NY

My roomate recently skipped out, canceling her rent check. I came home from work and all of her stuff was gone. She left oweing me $1500 in rent, damages, and bills.

I currently do not know where she is staying, but I am periodically updating a "paper trail" search for her. My real question is: what is the statute of limitations for a small claims suit?

Ideally I would prefer to sit quietly and wait until she "reserfaces" (ie sign a lease, opens new utility accounts, ect.) but I don't know how time sensitive this really is.
