What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Illinois.

I am looking to study online libel cases and found the recent eBay feedback ones to be quite interesting. How and why do they work without an attorney in small claims court? Regardless if monetery compensation is involved or not, would it be better to have legal represantation rather than pro se?

Also, what, if any, cases are currently in the system or are already completed? As I mentioned, we are aware of the UK and IL case, are there any others? Is there a place where I can find all of them filed soon?

Thank you for any information you may have to provide.

The purpose of these forums is to help folks with real legal problems, not to help others with homework.

This is by no means a homework project and I am sorry it sounded as such. I have a friend in this situation who is considering pursuing a lawsuit and this question was asked of me and I wished to find out more.

You don't want "help." You want to find someone who'll do the work for you for free.

Get off your lazy behind, get down to the law library and do the research.
