if i buy an item from a seller in IL

and the item arrives damaged but the seller refuses to refund

can I sue the seller here in CA, in small claims court, making the seller liable for travel to and from CA to defend himself or herself?

Work it out through ebay

First, did you pay for insurance on the item?

2. Did the add say whether the seller was responsible for damages if you don't get insurance?

3. Was it properly packed?

4. Most important, DID YOU CHECK THE SELLERS "FEEDBACK" before buying from him?

If you still feel "wronged" file a complaint with ebay, through, I think, Safe Harbor".
