What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida
I live in an apt/townhome and my neighbor was having issues with his electric. The landlord sent an electrician out at around 3:30 and he claims he turned all the breakers off then back on. Now my husband and I had no idea anyone was coming out to mess with the breakers. Well My husband got home at 7:30 and there was NO power in the house to he checked the breaker and saw it was left off. The result of the power being off for 4 hours caused the heat in my home to become VERY hot and my salt water fish died instantly because of the lack of oxygen in the water when the pump came back on it instantly killed my fish and all other inhabitants. We told the land lord she said she would contact the electrician which she did, but now the electrician sent us a letter saying that he was there the whole time and he did turn the power back on he's basically saying that my tank didn't die bc of the power being out. We said there was an estimate of $500 in damage he says he wants receipts of the fish and is only willing to give us a $250 gift card to a fish store when he gets the receipts. In this hobby no one keeps receipts past the 48 hour death policy. What should i do? I know i have some kind of right I just have no idea which they are.
