An email can be an official paper at court?

I have two questions that I would like to ask:
1. Can an email be an official paper at court? (i.e., a writting evidence?)
2. I have to move to another state at the middle of the court work, can I have somebody to be on my behalf? Or i have to travel?

Yes, e-mails can be used as evidence in court. Although, you need to prove that the e-mail address it came from belongs to the defendant.

I don't know about having somebody represent you in court in your absense. I guess a lawyer could, but that would use all of your winnings in small claims court, maybe more (if you win). You may be able to submit your side in writing. You should talk to the court.
