My mother's landlord gave my husband verbal authorization to purchase and install a new door lock to exchange the existing one. He informed my mother he would reimburse us for the materials. As of today's date, he hasn't done so. Called him to inquire about payment & landlord stated he wouldn't pay us since the lock was broken by a third party the following day. Can I take him to small claims court & be reimbursed at a lock smith's rate? Can I also be reimbursed for loss wages (time spent in court)?
