What is the name of your state? Indiana suing in North Carolina
We went to court in NC to sue for money owed. She did not show, and we won the judgement. After a couple weeks, I called the Civil Court of NC, and they said we could not guarnish her wages. My question is "WHY"?????????????????
If they don't have a pot to pee in, then you are just the dummy who tried to help or can you do something else to collect? Any advise would be appreciated!! Thank you

Q. My question is "WHY"?????????????????

A. Because, in NC, a judgment debtor can exempt income earned “within the last 60 days for personal services" by filing an affidavit that it’s needed to sustain home and family. Unless you can prove otherwise (and you probably can’t), that puts you out of the “enforcement by wage garnishment” business as a practical matter.

Before ranting further in print, perhaps what you should do is either determine your other options:

or put the matter in the hands of a NC collection attorney, who will already knows them, and pay for the service.
