What is the name of your state?Hi, I am from CA.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

I own a condo. The owner above me is an attorney. Almost one year ago there was water damage to my condo from his condo. The owner above has not paid me $ 2000.00.

I am thinking about taking him to small claims, but don't want the hasle.
Do you have any advice to encourage him to pay? I have considered a letter.

I would imagine to him going to court for $ 2000, which I will be awarded, would be a hassle, so I hope he will pay without going to small claims.

Any insight you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
