It has been so long since I orignally signed up on this site that I had to re-register!
I felt like I should come back here because this is where I started 5 years ago on my small claims journey. After many, many trips to court, and the support of my family and friends I finally reclaimed a ring that had been left to me by a family member, but taken by someone else. The case was difficult b/c the defendant lives in another state and I didn't have a lawyer and she did.
My advice for plantiffs:

- Do your homework! Read as many cases on here as you can. Get on the internet to find the laws specific to your state.
- Be prepared for court.
- Get witnesses to come with you
- Don't give up!
There were so many times I wanted to quit over the 5 years, but I didn't and I am so happy I never gave up.
