a friend of mine has started his own vending company. last november he placed two of his vending machines into a business that wrote a contract for placement for 12 months. three weeks ago this company moved out of their rented office space and failed to contact him that his machines would have to be moved. now the owner of the building refuses to let him have his machines back and has hung up on him numerous times. what recourse does he have to retrieve his property back.

"what recourse does he have to retrieve his property back."
*** Obviously, trying to resolve this by phone will not work. Have your friend right a very nice, polite letter (certified RRR) to the landlord advising that he is the owner of the machines and wishes to recover his property from the secured premises. Ask the landlord to contact him to arrange access for the removal. Then, if the landlord refuses, he might consider filing a civil action against him.
