What is the name of your state?WV
I am in the process of suing my ex in small claims court over money I lent him totalling almost $5,000 dollars. He signed 2 promissory notes for the money. He has stated to me that I will lose because the notes aren't notorized, so they are invalid. Is this true? Are both notes invalid because I didn't have them notorized? Thanks.

Not true. As a licensed notary, my job is just to verify that the person signing a legal document is that person. If both parties involved in a contractual agreement are present when the document is signed, there is no need for the document to be notarized.
