Has anyone heard of similar cases? After we won a case, some scammer went ahead of us and collected from the defendant and has been holding the money w/o giving us. What can we do to get our money?

We need to know which US state.

And what do you mean some scammer "went ahead" of you?

WHICH US STATE PLEASE.

And how did the scammer intervene? You need to explain what happened.
Sorry I replied above about state (ny). It went into the quote format. Scammer went to their property telling them they were there to collect money for us. Defendant ended up paying them and got satisfaction of judgment. Someone just told us it happens quite a lot (!).

So someone from out of the blue somehow got a copy of the judgment, went to the person's residence and the person paid up right then and there - and it was then reported to the court?

Did you make a police report?

so, when you went to the court and told them the true judgment creditor (you) have not been paid and you have not filed a satisfaction of judgment, just what did they say?

You do realize that a satisfaction of judgment must be signed by the judgment creditor or their representative, right?
