liable in civil suit

What is the name of your state? OK

If I was at a family members house, and I wrote a check over the phone, which was taken illegally(by FTC rules and regulations), and the check bounced or was on a closed account, would the owner of the phone I was on be liable in a civil suit, as well as me?
