What is the name of your state? Ga.
I was in a relationship with someone who asked me and my kids to move to Michigan with him. That he wanted to take care of me and my two children. We moved in January. In March I was to return to Georgia to make 2 court dates. Upon doing so I was informed that I could not take my children back across the state line without their fathers consent. He did not consent. So it was decided I would then move back to Georgia. I tried to plan a move for the next 3 weeks while all along the person I was in a relationship with agreed to help with the move. When I finally had a moving date confirmed I called him to set it up I found that he changed his phone number and made it impossible to reach him. After 3 day of attempts I drove to Michigan only to find him there and unwilling to relinquish any of my belongings. I called for a police escort and he reluctantly put my thing out in the parkinglot of an apartment complex. Little did I know he had already given away ALL of my childrens clothing, beds & dressers, baby memoribilia, high chairs, toys, etc. What toys were left were already thrown in the dumpster. Along with antique china dishes that were my grandmothers. His reasoning behind it was he thought I wanted to be with my Ex in Georgia. Now my kids are left with nothing and what I have left is damaged! What do I do to get compensatable and punitive damages for my children?

small claims court. but be prepared to get the current value of the items, if anything, not the replacement value, and most certainly not the sentimental value.
