Money hungry ex

i was given permission to take her car to get worked on, on the way back i was hit. i let her borrow my car for 3 months so she could find a new one. now its been four months and i took it back. shes now taking me to court for a sum of money. no proof of anything except a crashed car. accidents happen, i shouldnt pay... is this just my crazy belief or is it fact?
