The scenario: an unlicensed auto mechanic fixes a vehicle for someone that approves the estimate, the job was finished within two weeks and totalled $1400. Once the job was complete, the owner was contacted and said they would have the money in a week, it has now been 5 weeks. Many attempts have been made to retrieve the payment, the vehicle is still at the shop. Legally, what can the mechanic do?
