Here's the situation.

I used to live with my ex. I moved out several months ago.

Some of my belongings (large family-heirloom furniture, hundreds of dollars worth of books) are still at his residence. My pay checks were mailed to the address (it took several weeks to process the address change).

I've called him many times demanding that I get my belongings and most importantly, my paychecks back to no avail. He doesn't answer the phone or return my calls. I have gone to the residence several times to get my belongings myself to no avail.

Most importantly, I need my paychecks ASAP. (I've changed my address a while ago, but there is still one paycheck left.)

Small Claims court seems too much of a hassle, but what to do?

I could call the police but I'm not sure if they can help.

Thanks.
