What is the name of your state? California

I loaned someone $900.00 in February. He gave me a sob story about paying his rent. I trusted him. He signed a letter detailing that he would pay me back 300.00 a month on the 15th of March, the 15th of April and the 15th of May. The first payment was not sent. I saw him at an event and he said he would mail it the next day. Two weeks later no check or money. April 15th is tomorrow and still nothing.

I ahve called and left messages and have emailed. He is not responding to my messages.

I am getting very worried about this. What legal recourses may I ahve if he he fails to pay.

You can take him to small claims court based on a verbal agreement. Make sure to have every documentation pertaining to the 'loan' and the 'payment'. If there are witnesses that would be helpful.
