What is the name of your state? NH

Three years ago I foolishly loaned $4000 to my then boyfriend. He is a self-employed house painter (apparently not a very good one). He promised to repay me within 2 months. It never happened (the whole relationship only lasted 4 months). I had everything documented, so I took him to court last year (Nov. 2005) and won. He was ordered to pay me $100/month starting that day. He has paid me a grand total of $450. The last payment I received was dated 06/09/06. I always have to contact him about the payments and he always has a sob story-business is slow, he has other judgments against him, he has to live, etc..

I have had enough. I sent him an e-mail yesterday. He is $850 behind in payments. He replied to my e-mail stating he is filing bankruptcy and his lawyer told him all the judgments against him will go away. How is it he can pay a lawyer but not me? Also, shouldn_t I have received something from his lawyer informing me of this? I am not sure if he is filing personally or if his business is. It may not matter because his business is a sole proprietorship.

Does anyone have any advice?

Yep... unless/until you receive notice of his filing and including your debt in the petition... you should go after this guy 110%.
If he does file, your judgment is liable to be discharged... meaning you get nothing.
