What is the name of your state? OHIO

Also, watching a good number of court TV shows I've noticed that a simple hand-written promissory note (guessing most don't take them to lawyers to be "checked") is all it takes to prove that you loaned someone money that needs to be paid back, but what I am wondering is along those same lines, can most simple agreements between two people be handwritten and/or just typed up w/o being checked by a lawyer and still hold up in court?

Thank you for your time~~!~

It depends on a few factors, such as age, the type and the kind of the mutual agreement that the two parties are contemplating entering into!

and if they both agree (when it gets in to court) that both of them did in fact sign such an agreement.

being checked by a lawyer is not a requirement to make a contract valid. It is done to ensure the contract is legal and written well enough to allow one to have it enforced by the courts.

along with that, the advice of an attorney is often sought to ensure that one understands the contract and the implications of the contract.

If a contract is not written properly, it cannot and will not be enforced by the courts
