What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Virginia
Hi,
I have won a small claims case in Virginia against the Buy.com corporation (in California), over the goods not delivered, the sum is not that big, about $600. Their Customer Service just keep answering that they "study" the case, there's no doubt they are not going to pay by themselves. What should I do? The debt collectors are mostly dealing with individuals owning to corporations. Do you know of any service that would help individual against a corporation from a different state? Would it be cheaper than $600?
Regards

Sell this judgment to a collections agency in California.

Do an internet search for a company out there.

You may get $10 or $11 dollars for it (which is more than zero dollars).

You can also talk to a judgment recovery specialist in California that may help you. Again, check the internet for companies. You may get more from it doing it that way rather than trying to sell it to a collection agency.

Continue with the question

Thank you for the immediate replies, it's amazing how this forum is so alive and friendly. Just to continue with my question: does anybody think that I can get a quotation for the collection job from a company in California, and then go to the small claims court again, show the judge that the Buy.com is ignoring the court's decision, and this time ask for a new judgement against Buy.com that would reimburse the collection expences, plus, may be, include some punitive damages (which they well deserve)?

A: No. Buy.com doesn't give a rip for what that judge says; you will be soon be spending more than the judgment is worth.

Do what badapple says; if you can get $300 for that, take the money and don't look back!

Don't Order From Buy.com

Buy.com did the same thing to me. I ordered a $55 fax switch from them. The next day they sent me an email saying that my item had shipped and was on its way to me. After a week, I tracked the shipment to see why I hadn't received it yet. Their shipping co. claimed they never received the package to ship to me. After waiting their required 13 business days from order, I filed a claim with buy.com. Then waited two weeks to finally get their response that they had reviewed my claim and I would be issued a credit back to my credit card. However, in the meantime I had already called my credit card co. , told them what had happened, and they reversed the charge and gave me my money back on the spot. If you bought by credit card, check with them. Most credit card companies are very good about crediting you back for disputed charges. My son even got his money back for a hotel room he stayed at that was very poor quality. He called his credit card co. and they credited him the money back. :)
