Unfortunately, my boyfriend loaned his so-called friend of 20 years $500. It has been over 1 year now. They agreed on a verbal agreement and a handshake. Will this hold up in Small claims court? We do have a witness who was also present and ready to testify against the defendant.

Thanx

A verbal contract is enforceable. Of course the ruling will depend on the evidence that you can present and if the judge believes it.
