What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Iowa What is the standard of proof in small claims court?
The same as in all civil litigation: preponderance of the evidence.

The term does not readily lend itself to a clear-cut definition, but essentially it is defined as that quanta of evidence that tends to “make it more likely than not that the fact that the claiming seeks to prove is true”.

This as opposed to the much higher burden of proof required in a criminal prosecution that the state prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
