Sued from another state... help!

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

I was sued in small claims court in Ohio, however, I live in Illinois. Is there some sort of statue or law that says that they trial date has to be in Illinois? Since it is in Ohio and I cannot go, what are the repercussions of not going? Help please!!!!

There are several reasons why an Ohio court may have personal jurisdiction over an Illinois resident. Generally, a court acquired personal jurisdiction through minimum contacts. The defendant must have some contacts, ties, or relationships within the forum state.

The repercussions of not going would be the court rendering a default judgment against you.
