There are several reasons why an Ohio court may have personal jurisdiction over an Illinois resident. Generally, a court acquired personal jurisdiction through minimum contacts. The defendant must have some contacts, ties, or relationships within the forum state.
The repercussions of not going would be the court rendering a default judgment against you.
