What is the name of your state? Ohio

My 13 year old son called an international chat line without our knowledge or consent. The bill is $200. AT&T tells us if we were their customers they could dismiss the charge but since we are not, they cannot (will not?) waive the charge. Do we have any recourse? Is there any liability on the part of the chat line because our son is a minor? How should we pursue our options? Thanks for any advice.

You can't sell your son into slave labor anymore but you can have him work off the $200. And place a block on all 900 and 976 numbers. It is up to you to teach your children what they can and can't do. You can't hold AT&T or anyone else liable for that. And unless the host of the chat line is local to you, it will cost much more than $200 to fight the charges. Pay the bill and teach the boy a lesson in teenage economics.

you always have the option to refuset o pay just those charges and continue paying your bill as normal

they are "unregulated" charges so they can not diusconect you for not paying notr can they charge you late fees for not paying them
