What is the name of your state? california

my friend just broke up with her boyfriend who lives in colorado while she lives in california. in the 3 years they were going out she let him borrow money, of which he said he would pay back. she has credit card statements and receipts and an audio recording of a telephone conversation saying he would pay her back... with this evidence can she take him to small claims court here in california? also what about colorado law? if he doesn't show up in court over here, what can she do? any info/help would be greatly appreciated. thanks! What is the name of your state?

California does not allow small claims lawsuits against folks living out of state. Your friend will have to sue in Colorado.
