Unpaid childrens medical bills

What is the name of your state? Florida
Is it possible for my husband to sue his son mother for their sons medical bills? Does he have to pay them first to get them off his credit then sue her for half? Ther are not any co in regards to this matter, but arent BOTH parents responsible for the child they created.?
