RE: Summons and Complaint for unpaid credit card.

We are working with a credit counselor and are advised to "file an answer with the court" in response to a summons and complaint from our credit union for a credit card that has gone unpaid. Is there a proper way to word this answer?

The court officer explained that after an answer is filed my husband will need to attend a meeting with the judge and a representative of the credit union to come to an agreement for repayment. Any advice?

Just tell the truth but be brief.

Do you agree that the amount is due? Are you having personal financial difficulties or other circumstances that have made you unable to pay?
