What is the name of your state? Massachusetts
I got divorced from my husband last October. When I left the house, I left the furniture there because he wouldn't sign the divorce papers unless I did so. Well, what I didn't know at the time is that Equitable Distribution doesn't account for items given as a gift from someone other than the spouse during marriage. My father had given the furniture to me as a gift. If I am able to find the receipts, and have my father as a witness to that, could I win? I called my ex about it, and he told me he sold most of the stuff, would I get money value then?
