17 yrs old, Mother dead, Father in nursing home, no where to turn.

California.
The following case is in regards to a 17 year old boy (family freind).

My daughter's boyfriend, Jonathan (17) has father - Senior citizen had stroke 1 1/2 years ago and is in nursing home in Hemet ca.. Jonathan's mother is decease. Stepsister, Devina (mom's biological daughter (25-27) husband and 3 kids had been living with step-dad and Jonathan at his house and was paying rent before stroke. Jonathan received 790.00 in SS check monthly since mom's death years ago. After stroke, Devina stopped paying rent and started cashing Jonathan's SS check. Jonathan and Devina's family lived in dad's house until 2 months ago (June 2007). said house was being taken by nursing home. Jonathan had accessibility to check on account. said house payments had been made along with car and direct deposit of dad's pension. Then recently was unable to access account- numbers had changed, Cell phone turned off. New locks on all doors of house, payments lapsed on car. Devina & family and Jonathan moved 2 months ago to a 3 bdrm apartment in Murrieta-Devina and husband in one room, 2 boys in another and Jonathan forced to share room with very young niece. Sister has no legal guardianship of Jonathan and yet continues to collect and cash his SS check. I took Jonathan to see his dad today. Dad DID NOT KNOW of any of these circumstances. Had not signed anything regarding is home, car or Jonathan's SS checks. Had not been informed of his financial situation. Dad has clear mind and can communicate by writing what he wished to say. Was very upset and would like a lawyer. Please respond

There is a Find A Lawyer section to the right of this screen. This site does not provide referrals and reputable attorneys do not troll message boards looking for clients.

You can contact SSA and let them know of the change in circumstance, but you need to find a local attorney to help him.
