There is a 5 month waiting period for SSDI,meaning you are not entitled to benefits for SSDI for that 5 month wainting period .

Attornies that represent SSA applicants do so on a contingency basis .

Meaning they agree to be paid about 25% of their client's back pay.

If your SSDI has no back pay there is nothing for the attorney to collect.

SSI is paid monthly and even though you are receiving the amounts owed it's really not back pay.

Don't be surprized if your lawyer ask you to pay him.

If he has an agreement with SSA and you signed a contingency agreement with the lawyer, you will owe nothing.
