Hello!
I have a few questions, hoping someone here could help out..
I am divorced since 2004,,,have a son, joint custody.
Our son has Autism--and therefore alot of extra $$ is needed for his medical/general care needs.
My ex, son's father, has currently been paying for all medical expenses/benefits.
He's asked me to check into ssi/medical assitance since I only make 20K per yr.
(he makes alot more)
Since we have joint custody, won't ssi/medasst count his and my $$ together?
Would we have to change custody to me having primary custody to get this benefit?
Due to our son's medical needs, the current medical benefits do not cover all of his needs, ex husband feels with ssi/ma it would.
I have an appt with our local dept of social services tomorrow, but just wanted to get any info someone may have ahead of time.
thanks for any help!!:)
