My husband passed away recently. He was 61 years old and had been on disability since 2003. I am also disabled and receive ssi. We were married on Jan.23, 2013, and my husband passed away on Sept. 21, 2013. I know to receive disabled widow benefits you have to have been married 9 months. I have been told to go in for an appointment on Feb. 14 to arrange to receive these benefits. Does this mean that since I was married for at least part of all 9 months, I still qualify for them? Keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm not seeing where there is a 9 month marriage needed. But if your husband was married to his ex for 10 years, she will certainly qualify for SS benefits from his account.

Nine full months is required. You have eight months. Sorry for your loss, but I think you are out of luck. You may qualify for the lump sum death benefit of $255. Not sure that the duration of marriage requirement is the same. You would have to have been living together at the time of his death to qualify for the lump sum. Did you report to SSI that you were living with your husband and did your SSI benefits get affected by the amount of his SSDI?
