What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

My mother is 87 years old. She was receiving the SSI but recently she received a money that she reported to the SSA office.

They told her that her SSI is going to be suspended until she expend all that money.

My question is: At the moment she is leaving in an apartment from a housing program. If she buys an small apartment with that money, is she going to have the SSI back?

Thanks,
Chepe.

Any building that is her home (single family, condominium, mobile home, apartment) that is owned by her and she lives in it is an excluded resource for as long as she lives there.

But she is age 87. How long can she live in an apartment that she owns? How long can she live on the money that she would use to purchase the apartment. Perhaps getting the SSI back is not a good plan.

But then Chepe can inherit it.
