What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana

I can handle debit cards, cash, money orders but have a harder time handling checking accounts without a checkbook software. I do have trouble writing checks but could use bill pay and/or a debit card. I would most likely would use the direct express debit card, take out some cash to pay bills that don't take debit cards. The rest I would use for what I need. Then the rest for entertainment-which is allowed.

My disability has not improved but technology has. I am pretty sure most beneficiaries could use the direct express debit card because a lot of them use the food stamp debit cards without problems. I wish congress would change the payee program. It really doesn't need to exist now unless you are permanently living in nursing home or permanently living in a mental hospital not just a temporary stay. This would save Social Security a lot of money to do this. They would have to send the direct express debit card by restricted mail to make sure the beneficiary gets it.

The reason I am asking to be my own payee. My current payee health will be getting worse in a few years & going to have to reverse rolls. She discuss everything she does with my social security. We only trust each other to handle things. I do get our groceries. I could wait tell I am 65, but I may have to request it sooner. This way I would at least get SSI.

Any suggestions?
