listed as totally disabled from MVA fired from job in MA

Hello All,

Need some advise. I was in a car accident recently and my doctor listed me as totally disabled, from here, I was fired for my job because I used up my FMLA due to another family issue that happened earlier in the year. As of right now, I don't know if I am going to be totally disabled forever or just for a short term basis. At this point I have no income coming in because all my former employer has a clause that states that all short and long term disability stops with termination as well as no health insurance. I was advised by my personal injury attorney that I am unable to apply for UI because I am listed as totally disabled at this point, and I don't know what to do.

Anyone know what I can apply for to suppliment my income and health insurance until this gets all figured out? I am only 26 years old, I have 2 children that I pay support for, and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. I do have a personal injury attorney for the accident, but they can't help me with things like this.

Any help and advise on what to do or where to apply would be helpful.

thank you,
barry

If your DR. expects you to be disabled for at least 12 months or more ,file for SSDI and SSI . In the meantime get a Drs. statement of your disability and proof you applied for SSA benefits .

Go to your local Soc. Services agency ( they might have a disability Dept. ) and apply .

File for a modification of Child support .

If you have no income and no assets, you can also get various welfare and food stamp benefits for yourself and your children.
