Hello,
I am not sure if anyone has an answer to my question, but will post.
I am currently receiving SSD benefits. I am also a caregiver to my 89 year old Father, who is homebound and needs 24 hour care. I am being paid through AHCCCS long term care program to take care of my Father at home. The case manager authorized 26 hours per week that I can be paid for, but I can only work 16 hours per week, so that my SSD benefits will not be affected.
My question is this: I consider myself not "working" but "caring" for my elderly Father. Would anyone know if there is an exception where I could be paid caring for my Father, but the monies would not count towards my SSD benefits? Again, I am not working a regular job, but taking care of my elderly Father at home, and being paid to do so.
Can anyone help me? Just receiving SSD benefits alone barely covers all my monthly expenses, and receiving the additional monies from AHCCCS long term care would really help!
Thanks for reading my email!
Have a great day!
