What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I'm 17, and I have been receiving a social security check for about a year, my mom said i receive it cause my dad is handicapped( such as type two diabetes, he no longer works at all) but I've been getting it for about a year. I know my parents needed money but I'm not sure, it's kind of confusing. I will be turning 18 next month, and I wanted to know will I still receive the check? I'm home schooled right now going full time, and meet with a teacher twice a week for an hour. Will i still get the check?

My sister who is bi polar receives a check and she is 24.

I also have type 1 diabetes.

What do I need to do to continue getting the check?

Benefits from a parent continue until you turn 18, unless you are still a full time high school student. If so, benefits continue until you turn 19 or finish high school, whatever comes first but you have to submit a specific form that proves you are still a full time high school student. If you are so disabled you cannot work at all, benefits can continue beyond age 19. Although it may sound nice to continue getting a check after age 19, it would mean that you have serious medical problems like severe neuropathy or kidney failure or blindness from your diabetes. You want to hope that you don't become that disabled for a long long time.
