Hello everyone,

My mother was just approved for Social Security Disability. However, her award letter does not state the onset date. The reason this is concerning is because we would like to extend her Cobra benefits to 29 months. And the award letter needs to state that her onset date was on or with in the first 60 days of Cobra coverage. So maybe im confused on what the onset actually is?

Cobra coverage started Sept 2011
She applied for SSDI Sept 2011.
She claimed her onset date Aug 2011.
Denied in Dec 2011
She was approved June 2012
She was Backpayed from February to May 2012.

So is her new onset date February?
Or did Social Security forget to post her Onset date that she claimed in the application? If that's the case would SS print out a new letter with her onset date?

Thank you for your help!

She can call SSA's toll free number and ask for such a document that will show her eligability date .

It shouldn't take too long to arrive in the mail.
