What is the name of your state? Florida

EB resided with her mother CB. CB died in 1992, however, social security was not notified and continued to direct deposit checks into her account (a joint account with EB) until 1998 when they ceased making deposits and froze the account (it is unclear whether social security or the bank froze the account). The account balance is $5,000.00 with a social security hold of $32,000.00.

EB died in 2004 and the Personal Representative served social security with a Notice to Creditors, no claim was filed.

Is there a Federal statute of limitations as to how far back social security can go to collect overpayments?
