SS/Disability and Private Ins payments ??

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Assuming I am approved for SS disability and my private insurance policy, as well....what effect will they have on one another? In other words, is the SS paymnet lost if the private company pays? Or am I simply allowed both payments?
