Ssd

My wife has been suffering with macular degeneration in one eye for about 10 years. She got it in her remaining eye 2 years ago. After injections each month for 2 years and 1 surgery, she has been declared legally blind.

We live in New York State. She was told that she does not have enough work credits for SSD. I wanted her to stay home to raise our kids. I have been receiving SSD since 2005. She is 55 And I am 57. Is there anyway she can receive either SSD or Medicare/Medicaid? I heard she might be able to get SSD off of my record.

Thank you for your help.

You both should visit your local office .

Depending on your SSDI amount she may be able to receive some SSI .

I'm not sure about SSDI off your disability though .

After you find out from SSA about it , if she qualifies for at least SSI ,she may be entitled to SSI Medicaid .

Again check with the local office in person with your proofs .

Thanks BL. I called the SSA 800 number and they set us up with an appointment at the local office next week.

Your welcome .

Anything like that is better done in person .

Notices that you don't agree with and so forth.
